Because of the high rates of poverty, many people living in Uganda face various complex challenges on a daily basis, such access to medical care and preventative interventions, lack of education, inconsistent employment, unclean water, and higher rates of life-threatening illness, such as malaria and HIV/AIDS. All of these factors have led to an increased prevalence of disabilities. Today, over 19% of Uganda’s population is living with a disability.
Hope Speaks strives to provide speech therapy and rehabilitation services for children in a country where these services are nearly non-existent. We work diligently to make high-quality speech therapy and rehabilitation services available to all children in Uganda, from the capital city of Kampala to surrounding communities and remote villages.
