Candice is Hope Speaks’ resident Australian and has been working with us for over a year, looking after communications and media from the Uganda office. Her background in Social Science, Research and Education drives her passion to see data brought to life. Where some people see statistics and numbers, Candice sees people and purpose. We hope you are moved by her blog today.
Dear Friends,
Happy holidays from Hope Speaks! We are so grateful for your partnership and support of our daily work, which brings us to countless clinics and homes in Uganda each year. We are privileged to visit communities in need and encouraged to know people like you, around the world, are lifting us in prayer. This year has been one of pruning, sowing deep roots, and honing in on the vision and mission of Hope Speaks.
Geoffrey is one of our newer clients at Hope Speaks, but we are so proud of the progress he’s made already, and couldn’t wait to share his story with you. He is a 27 year old, former speed skating champion in Uganda. In October 2015 though, he was out for a bike ride along the rode & was hit by a van traveling at a high speed. The crash threw him into a coma for 2 weeks, & during that time, he also suffered from a stroke. When he woke up, his ability to understand what was said to him was not affected, as well as his ability to read & write full sentences.
